Down on Main Street

Something about standing in a pool of water, watching your flushing of the toilet cause the bathtub to regurigate, can make a woman mad. After a desperate dash from Tulsa to our new cute little nice city with our shmanshy house, my socks are wet. The home is great, beautiful and charming. But I'd like to shower and I'd like not to take anyone to poo at the Mcdonalds play place down the street! Anyways, our very non-panicked landlord says "I guess it will be awhile then." I want to invite him next time I rush down to the golden arches. I am crossing my fingers that the plumbers will stop the water and its strange contents from soaking into my boxes in the garage anymore than they have.

On another side, I have the task of decorating a rent house with the stuff I already have, no accomodations. No, the colors and theme I had in my last bedroom do NOT mesh well with the murky oak colored molding. Didn't think of that, my bad. But as some sort of project I will post before, during, and after photos of the various challenging rooms in this home. Extremely challenging, lots of great floral wallpaper and bad faux finishes! Who knows, maybe you'll get a good idea or you can give me ideas. Decorating is all I really want to do anyways, just not for a career. Not that I think I could pull that off or anything. But how does a college student/mommy/step-mommy on a very limited budget make a house feel like a home? I'm working on it!

See, this is why I don't like blogging, I just go and go and go and go and....

Ok, I swear..

July, that's ridiculous! I knew I had let my posting go astray, but July? Come on!

Anyways, soon I will be further away than I am now so I am going to get back in touch with this blogging thing. Here's a few updates.

I have been nominated by my college for the All USA Academic Team which includes instant membership to the All Oklahoma Academic Team. Fancy, huh?

We are moving to another city.

I built my first snow-thing. It is supposed to be a pumpkin. It would have been an elmo if I had known how to actually build a snowman!

Next semester I get to spend more time with my son, taking only online classes.
Instead of OSU, I will be a UCO student.
I hope everyone is staying cozy and safe, I have been house-bound for days. This doesn't suit me well as I like to go-go-go!
This man on TV is wearing a green headband - what?

Queen of Hearts

It amazes me how hard it is for me to sit down and type a paragraph or two about what's going on in my life. I've fallen out of the "frequented blogs" group due to my extended absence. The summer semester is finished and I think I managed an A in both of my classes. Speech was a ton of fun as I was able to practice preparing and presenting a speech. The instructor I had is one I am very fond of and always makes class entertaining. I also got several chances to be the "meeting leader" in which I get to be bossy and run the show - one of my favorite things. I was born to delegate. I even love that word.

Some great news! Zach has landed a great management position and will be leaving for Colorado on the 7th for 8 weeks! I know it seems I should be a little sad he is leaving, and yes, I will miss him, but we are both excited to have a little breathing room as we have been in a precarious financial situation lately. I will only have two weeks to myself before school starts, but I am sure I will take full advantage of the free time! Hooray! Forgive me, but sometimes a 22-year-old with up to 3 kids at any given time craaavvess a little freedom.

On another note, I was the honored recipient of my first "You're not my mom," and "I HAATTEE YOUUUUUU!" Very rewarding, if I do say so myself. I kept my cool as there was several hours in between gifts. I explained to the younger, after several hours in her bedroom screaming and kicking (not because she said this stuff but for a general talking back attitude issue) that I am very well aware that I am not her mother because I would remember squeezing her out, but while she is in my home I assume the role of mother. I will be treated as just that. I explained she is in a two-parent household and I happen to be one of them. I told her I loved her very much but there are rules that must be followed. I told her that when she is not here I am very much the mommy, and it stays the same when she comes to stay.

I expect honesty.
I expect an answer when I ask a question.
I expect pride and confidence in her demeanor.
I expect respect.
I love her too much to allow her to become a mean girl.
It will not be tolerated.

She's 8, by the way. I don't think this is too young to begin some attitude control.

Am I being too tough? This step-parent thing is a horrible predicament that is impossible to understand unless you have been there. I must love her as my own, but should I discipline her as if she is my own? I say - hell yes. It's still my roof, I explained that this house is like my dolly. I want it to be taken care of because I love it very much.

I hate feeling like I am the "parent-in-training" when it comes to the girls. Zach does a wonderful job supporting my decisions in front of them, but behind closed doors there may be some questions if I am in the right or wrong. I hate being wrong. I also feel I've put in my time as a young child and it's MY turn to say "no....because I said so." Power trip? Maybe. Keeping control over my household. Yes. I will not become the underdog in the training camp of life.

Why do I get along so well with one and not the other. Why does one contstantly hug and kiss me and tell me she loves me and the other just rolls her eyes or cries, saying I am lying about what she has said or done.

WWWHHHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I just want to destroy things. Loudly. My childhood anger has been rearing its ugly head lately. But I don't want to be that crazy lady whom you must stay away from unless you want 3rd degree burns from the explosion. "Just nobody talk to me for a few minutes."

Lord Help me hold my tongue and not hate, yes HATE, this battle. We always make up and have the same conversation but days later I still get 'tude. But I will stand firm and will not back down. Someone must be the rock in this female dominant home. ME ME ME I AM THE QUEEN. BOW DOWN DAMNIT. That's what my insides scream but my mouth says, "It's OK, just remember what we've talked about.

Any advice. Please.

Better yet, I had my first country dancing outing in OKC last weekend. We went for Zach's nephew's birthday. His sister took me to get a new outfit to wear out the Grahm's Country Dance Hall or something like that. 10 shots of tequila later, I was a two-stepping fool. I was not born with the dancing gene but with the help of Jose and some other gentlemen whom I barely remember, I danced my heart out. I even tried line dancing with Zach's sister. How the heck does everyone know what to do at the same time?? I am sure I looked ridiculous, but that didn't stop 3 or 4 men from asking me to dance. What a blast! One, Two, Step. One, Two, Step. JesPrincess - it's on. I can't wait to get back out on that hardwood floor.

weight for it

I hate checking my bank balance. I hate standing on a scale to check my weight. I get a horrible, twisting feeling deep in the pit of my gut. I don't even want to know. I wait and wait because I can imagine how horrible the result will be yet I know I have to do the responsible thing. So I check both and of course all of my worst nightmares come true. Ouch. Why does my bank balance drop the longer I wait and my weight rise the longer I wait? If I had one wish, these roles would be reversed. Aahh, how sweet an idea.

what it is

I don't even know the date of my last post. Now, I've sat down many times, logged into the blogger dashboard, and even started to type something. But it always seems so inward driven, either complaining about some situation or subtly bragging about how amazingly good-looking and intelligent my son is. I feel guilty when I use the word "I" in other blogger's comment section so I rarely comment. I do want you all to know that I do read your blog entries religiously; however, I suppose I could be doing other stuff religously, like living.

The initial avalanche of emotion and drive from my recent return to faith has subsided. I was so thrilled that I couldn't fathom feeling the way I do now, you know, the "Sundays" sort of life. I don't walk into Walgreens with God or love on my mind like a I did a few months ago. I walk in with an hot, irritated attitude and child while racking my brain to remember what I'm sure I've forgotten. Razors? No, baby Tylenol. No, hairspray...wait. What day is this? What? It's Friday? You mean I missed the trash yesterday? What is the freakin' hold up here? Have a good day? Yeah, I wish.

Am I kidding? I am needless.

Except when it comes to the beautiful, soulful feeling of really having God with me. He is in the background now, a firm moral line that reveals itself when I am reaching the edge. He has me by the proverbial shirt collar, but keep in mind his arm has to be like 1,000 feet long! He is not in my passenger seat and definately not in my driver's seat. I am, I don't have time, I have errands to run, laundry to dry, floors to sweep. I can't afford to just sit in the passenger's seat as God drives 25mph in 45mph zone. C'mmmonnn!!! Aren't we THERE YET!?!?

Rivendell, Kyle, your creativity and love keep me from just forgetting any of this God stuff ever happened. It was so easy to attend every event with you all when it was just me and Elijah. Just hop in the car whenever I chose and off we went. Not so much now. There is another human's needs to consider. It's not all about me and growing myself anymore. Perhaps this is one of those internships wherein God has placed me on the job to see how I utilize what I have learned since I first walked into Rivendell. I hold my ground steadfast at first and then one compromise leads to another. What I watch on TV, what I listen to on the stereo, the words in my vocabulary. OHHhh, there's that old Heather, the one everyone either can't fathom where I've been or where I've come. There you are, where'd she go? Who was I fooling? Them? Me? You? Regardless, I know I don't want to become so comfortable that I forget to keep God in the forefront of my mind. I know I don't want to be so uncomfortable that I run off to the nearest nunnery. Is that how you spell it, where would I find one anyways? Daniel was talking about visiting a monestary somewhere in the midwest. Talk about some kahonas. Leave my freedom to focus on everything right and wrong in my life? I don't pray every night like I used to, but at least every other night. It's like well, sin really, one tiny compromise leads to a larger and larger compromise. You miss one night and it's so much easier to miss the next night.

God, keep me focused on the days ahead of me rather than just the day. Help me to remember you all day long. Help me to remain faithful in this place I had no intentions of visiting. Help me to see and accomplish the work that is surely here to do. It's not about me anymore, but these are the tools I need to really keep this ship afloat. I am a born leader, delagater, ship-floater, but help me to remain mindful of my Lord who is actually responsible for the tittilating task at hand. I love challenges; I can't remember in which year the declaration was signed, 1774? 76? But I can solve any problem fairly easily. I have the tendency to sacrifice myself for the good of others even if it runs me dry. So if my under-eye circles are a little darker and my waist a little girthier, don't feel pity for me because I am doing what I love. Feeling responsible, feeling needed, feeling important. Thank you for being an ever-loving and ever-longing God. Please give me the strength to be me.

There's a apost for ya - that ought to catch me up :)

Also, the girls are here for a week and they will be here off and on all summer. Yes, while I'm in school 14 hours a week. Thanks to all of you for being so kind and accepting them immediately. They are something special. See you all soon, don't hate me if I don't show up to every activity. I love you all :)

G'pa

I am from roller-blades, from new Crayola's and Sonic slushies.
I am from the small, green neighborhood behind the church where I smoked my first cigarette.
I am from the cold pansies in the rail-road tie planter by the door, the field behind Suzanne's house.
I am from Christmas at Grandpa's and perseverance, from Arthur and Evelyn and Trudy the Beagle.
I am from the reserved and loving.

From "How will anyone think of you as on top of the world if you don't think you are?" and "Why would you do this to yourself?"
I am from Presbyterian hymns. From questioning my faith and coming up with the wrong answer.
I'm from Green country, Scotland, Norway. Lefsa and chicken nuggets.

From the back office in my Grandpa's home, he would patiently play "Wheel of Fortune," on MS-DOS. He would laugh as I stood next to the computer when the monitor read "Please Stand By," the giant watermelon, red tomatoes, and the games of monopoly after dinner with Grandma.
I am from boxes under beds, metal frames on shelves, warm hearts, and orange ladles. I am from my Grandpa's patio and I want more than anything to see him again. To be five on his patio again. Sometimes I don't know if I want to go to Heaven to meet Jesus or just see my Grandpa again. I still love you.

Butt, Butt

Man, is time flying by or what? Another semester is closed as another looms right around the corner. I love school, which is a complete 180 compared to the past 6 years. At least I have one clear goal and path in my life.

Today I am thankful for recursive relationships. Two steps forward and one step back, but at least we are always taking steps. It's not easy rebuilding a relationship that at one time was so volatile, but the lessons we are learning are priceless. Compromise, forgiveness, understanding, relating, giving, doing. "Nobody said it was easy, no one ever said that it would be so hard." I'm terrified of marriage, I think, which is not what I grew up believing. Thanks Cinderella. Married couples get a look of "well, yeah, sometimes it sucks, but you know, whatever," when asked about how marriage is or when I voice my fears. Singles get the "geez I don't know either" look when asked how we are supposed to feel. Would a ring relieve my anxiety or increase it? I've heard over and over how a woman changes once married and most of what I've heard has been from the mouth of a man. Men. That's why I'm terrified. Movies, songs, everything feeds my fear. "Don't you wish your girlfriend was a freak like me." Come on, that makes me want to puke. I know a man's sexual nature, I know men think and live in the moment. I'm not afraid of being cheated on, it's the thoughts and desires of men that terrify me. OK, how many times have I used the word "terrified?" Not "scared, nervous, anxious, worried," but "terrified?" I have heard that only God can fill the void that a man cannot. I need to remember that we are only human and cannot satisfy a person completely. I want so badly to satisfy Zach completely, but can that ever be attained? Would happily married men say they are satisfied completely by their wives'? "Wife," why does that hold such negative connotation in my mind? Is it my parents' failed marriage? I really think it is the media and my experience and the term "ball and chain." I want to lift up, not bring down. How do I strengthen my own personality to do so? How do I do it for a person who isn't ready to come back to God? Who may never? Will a marriage work this way? I believe it will, I also believe it will be more difficult to keep my mind focused on God. Lord, please give me the same strength I needed with my friends in displaying my faith. Without exercise, I become spiritually unhealthy and underdeveloped.

One thing we are good at is "getting over it." We are both leaders, which provides for some nice little battles of will. "I'm stronger, no I'm stronger" is what we might as well be saying. It's not easy for him to get past our past but our forgiveness towards each other is unmatched. Our emotions run rampant, good thing we have a big home. Help me be the rock, Lord, which keeps our family spiritually grounded. My son needs an example and I need to be it. I love Zach so unconditionally that sometimes it really blows! His mom even told him she thinks I am the only girl that has ever loved him unconditionally, even his family. She tends to have a sixth sense about everything. Is loving unconditionally an act of God or an act of stupidity? This is the essential question. I love my family, I love that I have a family. Daddy, Mommy, Baby, cath, and a fish. (yes only one fish, R.I.P. Clive.) I love my home with tall ceilings and a white picket fence (life is complete now that I have the white picket fence, right?). I love that I have beautiful pink roses three feet from my kitchen window, and I LOVE that there is a sprinkler system here and I don't pay the water bill. The grass is SO green here on my side of the street.

OK, time for laundry.

Lord, help me get my head out of my rear.

It's time again to load up the kiddos and get to Woodward Park for the annual picture-taking extravaganza. These two pictures are about a year apart, what happened to my chubby little cabbage patch kid? Getting him to actually sit was much easier when he didn't know how to walk! We did manage to get a few action shots that turned out nicely. I have intentions of getting these pictures every year and putting them into a nice little book. At least until he's too cool to sit by flowers for mommy! ;)
By the way, did I mention how much I Hate black pepper? How the heck are you supposed to clean it up?! Those dang black specks just may be the death of me...

The Great Google Oracle

1. Heather needs "men...now." (I've got enough, thank you.)
2. Heather needs "two therapists." (Not just one, TWO!)
3. Heather needs "a rest." (Tell me something I don't know.)
4. Heather needs "a childhood." (.....)
5. Heather needs "veggies." (Heather needs to cook the veggies she has!)
6. Heather needs "to stick with her career as a country artist." (I think I've lost my geetar though.)
7. Heather needs "to find the right balance between emotion and logic." (Thanks, Sherlock.)
8. Heather needs "to go to the dolly hospital to get operated on." (So THAT's what the problem is!!)

Logical emotion versus Emotional logic. Interesting? Does this constitute "oxymoron?"

Dear Postmaster,

I feel there has been a terrible mistake. I sent away two weeks ago for a Notice of Will and still have not received it. This is an untimely error and I would deeply appreciate it if you could personally look into the matter. I have a lot on my plate, you see, and am expecting God's Notice of Will to help clear things up. I am positive I sent my request to the right place, and He knows my address so I feel the mistake lies in the hands of the Post Office. Thank you in advance for your time and concern in this matter.

Sincerely,
H

Young Girl Reaches Zenith in Life-Living Career

OK - how can I contain my excitement? I won't : AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! What could be more significant to me than seeing Fiona Apple in concert? Probably seeing Jesus in concert. But since that won't happen any time in the predictable future I will continue freaking the crap out over going to OKC tonite to see the woman who has sung me through some of the most challenging times in my life. I am going to cry. I am going to freak out. OUT, all the way OUT.

So, because of the unpredictability of life, I hope you will pray for our trip as we drive to OKC this afternoon. Pray there are no traffic problems, no ticket problems, and that Fiona makes it safely and happily. Some other Coldplay band is playing, but no one cares about them. Fiona Apple. If you haven't heard her music, take the time to listen to a track or two - undoubtedly you will find a song that will make you go "oh my gawsh, that's so me."

I love you guys, see you soon.

Yes, we will only be gone about 20 hours - but still.

SEEEE!!!

Here is an excerpt from Kyle's blog, wherein he mentions the scripture we will be looking at this Sunday:

[30] So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked,"Do you understand what you are reading?" [31] He replied, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. Acts8:30-31 (NRSV)

OK - didn't I just blog about God sitting on my bed everyday to guide me. Know I know I'm being a little vain, and that the sermon goes much further into the whole guidance thing. But C'MON, how weird is that?!

In the never-ending quest to conquer the kitchen, I bought my first bread machine. Only 40 more minutes until experiment #1 is ready! In searching online for bread machines, I came across hundreds of books about bread machines.

What? OK, I thought I bought the machine so that I wouldn't have to know anything besides what to put in and which buttons to push. I am a little intimidated that there is so much extra information that hundreds of people have felt the need to WRITE BOOKS about it.

Luckily the machine comes with its own little book, and if I can produce something edible then I will be satisfied. However, if you have any advice or funny stories about adventures with bread machines, let me know. I know, Supermom, you can probably make a loaf of bread with a popsicle stick and a lighter, but maybe you know some unfortunate soul who has had to use a designated machine for baking bread. Ha, anyways, OK. Here is the song I made up for Elijah on the way to Wal-Mart:

Hi-ho, Hi-ho,
It's off to Wal-mart we go -
To buy a bread m'chine
In the sun,
And hopefully have some bready fun.
Hi-ho, Hi-ho!

from the mouth of babes

A wise, pre-pubescent girl informs a younger boy that being a kid is easier than being an adult:

"Grown-ups have to go to work and don't get to play and have to take care of stuff all the time. Kids just get to play, play, play. It's easier - really!"

Disgruntled 5 year old boy doesn't buy it:

"But kids have to clean their roooomms."

Seemingly wise girl offers a logical rebuttal:

"Not if they have a maid, they don't. Duh, poo-poo head."

Young boy continues to sulk, but accepts the "maid theory" as solution to the hardships of "kid-dom."

I decided to hold my tongue, to allow these kids to enjoy this distorted view of kids' hardships to parents' hardships ratio. I wanted to tell the boy, "If cleaning your room is all you have to complain about then I will gladly switch you places." But I decided to keep my mouth shut, given that cleaning my room was always a traumatic event: It was to the point that my dad would have to sit on my bed and tell me what to pick up next. I really just needed someone there to guide me so I wouldn't have to problem-solve on my own. Luckily, God sits on my bed all day long now, giving my dad a much needed break. I still don't like cleaning my room, though.

reality check

"Ok, God, will you show me something I need to see?"

(open randomly to Matthew 7:6-11)

"Don't be flip with the sacred. Banter and silliness give no honor to God. Don't reduce holy mysteries to slogans. In trying to be relevant, you're only being cute and inviting sacrilege."

Yikes.

"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?"

so who all is running for mayor?

Anyone can see that the brightest and best die,
wiped out right along with fools and dunces.
They leave all their prowess behind,
move into their new home, The Coffin,
The cemetary their permanent address.
And to think they had named counties after themselves!

We aren't immortal. We don't last long.
Like our dogs, we age and weaken. And die.

This is what happens to those who live for the moment,
who only look out for themselves:
Death herds them like sheep straight to hell;
they disappear down the gullet of the grave;
They waste away to nothing -
nothing left but a marker in a cemetary.
But me? God snatches me from the clutch of death.
He reaches down and grabs me.

So don't be impressed with those who get rich
and pile up fame and fortune.
They can't take it with them;
fame and fortune all get left behind.
Just when they think they've arrived
and folks praise them because they've made good,
They enter the family burial plot
where they'll never see sunshine again.

We aren't immortal. We don't last long.
Like our dogs, we age and weaken. And die.

Psalms 49:10-20, The Message.

Stumbled across this rather vivid commentary on those we may be intimidated by or inclined to follow "down here." Leave it to Eugene Peterson to be in your face, huh.

I get my haircut at a place Not listed in the shepherd's guide.

Just a friendly head's up -

I have become friend's with my "hair lady," Heidi. She's a lot like me, just 6 years down the line. She's a single mommy, 26-ish, with a 6 year old daughter, Bailey. We can talk forever and my hair just gets shorter and shorter. (Just you wait and see...!) She's been feeling as if God is nudging her to find her own church. Her parents are Baptist and Heidi has been attending her parent's home church off an on for awhile now. Sometimes it's easier to worship apart from your parents, whether good/bad or right/wrong, it's just the truth.

So she most likely will be coming to Rivendell this Sunday and I'm stoked - I really think she'll feel comfortable and will slih-deh right into the groove of our insanity.

She's great - the best.

e-banned

Well, I won the vintage doorknobs!

That's not without loosing 6 others bets, bids, same thing.
However, the e-mail with the subject line "You've Been Outbid by Another User!" is not a favorite. Talk about encouraging competition.

So I think I will take my prize and walk, Bob. I'm not a gamblin' gal.

Here's to a short affair with E-bay: you win some, you lose some.

Amazon.com, however, is still fair game...

Tuesday, February 14, 2006

One thing I love about Rivendell is the unrelenting relevance between Sunday's message and the 6 days previous. I think my friends feel the same way. That is so weird...

Wait, doesn't my pastor have a link to my blog?

Hmm...

Constitutional responsibilities; initiating legislation; lobbying - a passage of proposals; exercising veto power; bicameral system; senatorial courtesy...

And I'm supposed to write coherent sentences conveying not only that I understand what this junk means, but actually have an opinion about the procedures.

If anyone has an edition of "Politics for Dummies" on tape or in pill form, let me know.
"They're a good group of kids, it was fun to be around them, you know. Kind of gives you hope."

"We need some hope..."

"Hope for the future."

raise my eyes, Lord.
I am angry here on the ground:
swearing when I should be singing.

peace sleeps down here.
wake me up, Lord:
jealous when I should be joyful.

I think about myself, Lord.
my demands are not compromised:
conceited when I should be considerate.

shut my mouth, Lord.
maybe my thoughts are louder
than the Word I should be listening for.

strings

selfish love
i need you -
to let me love you.

i just must
feel OK
with how i am feeling...

all i did
- was crush you,
but if i smile sweetly,
will you forget?

your gentle energy
clouds my concerns:
for you.

it's all about Me here.
it's my mistakes (not your pain)
that i want to erase.
it's the anger i brought out
of you that rides on
my conscience.

if you would just forget about yourself -
nevermind the heartache you've lived with -

and satisfy my needs so
that i can be fullfilled.

One step at a time...

group prayer
  • we pray together on Sundays; what about Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Mondays?
comfort with cultural diversity
  • practice not offending others
actually accepting cultural diversity
  • no really, don't offend them. (feminists, charasmatic, african american, rich man, homosexual, alternative lifestyle, someone not like you.)
deep effort
  • make our meal a party
talking about our calling to the missional life
  • what are you dealing with in your life? (diversity, prayer, effort, acceptance)
it might mean you have to change everything you know
  • "it's not working."
are we doing anything?
  • fellowship is not just for Sundays
church building versus missional life
  • so we can't get anyone to come to us, should we go to them?
we're not coming for the food
  • so we don't have to prove ourselves by cooking a masterpiece, but really - i'm hungry.
what's important to you?
  • where is God asking you to concentrate your efforts?

how can i help?

ways to know that you knew nothing

  • yogurt is the new windex.
  • your kid goes potty in your underwear, while you're wearing them.
  • the "30-second rule" is extended - indefinitely.
  • breakfast is no longer equated with daylight.
  • sleep is no longer equated with darkness.
  • everything is a dog.
  • your online identity is "super mom."
  • given character traits and songs, you could identify at least 20 characters on "playhouse disney."
  • everything that is not a dog is a "uh-oh."
  • you giggle much too much. (this could be attributed to nearing insanity.)
  • "take a nap" in synonymous with "you must be dreaming."
  • your waistline grows in sync with your child's height, even though the child is no longer inside of you.
  • what drives you insane keeps you sane.
  • what makes your day hell makes your life heaven on earth.
  • you make "ways to know..." lists.

the gang

these are the new members of my little family. scout is the speckled fish and clive is the orange fish. my son likes to make his mouth move like the fishie's mouth. how cute is that?

in yo face

how's this for an "in-your-face" reminder?

you boost me!

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

gee, i sound like a lot of fun, huh!!

sadly enough, there is truth in this stupid thing!

under there, underwear?

after sorting through all of my "underwear," i realize that i have been clinging to the past. tonight i will throw out 11 bras and 35 underwears. sadly, i still have enough that i have yet to justify buying more. however, i am working on that justification; it should only take a few more hours ;)

out with the old and in with the new

how's that for personal blogging?

happy new year!

ladies and gentlemen, the amazing stain repelling fabric! you are witnessing bright red-orange juice trying to ruin my new chenille fabric i recovered my chairs with. i was blown away, there are no red stains at all!! i even composed a wonderful video worth submitting to some infomercial, but since i have no idea how to upload movies, this mere photo must suffice! i will provide tours if desired. man, i really have joined the mom's club...
